Wounded 2

How does our heart get hurt? Why does our heart get hurt?

Does God say something about this? YES!

God says two important things to start with -

First – God knows you have a wounded heart, so He invites you to Himself to heal you and enable you to live well!

            Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matt 11:28 HY

Second - God values our hearts the most, so He teaches you and me how to handle our heart. God cares so much about your heart, that He commands us strongly –

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Proverbs 4:23

Taking it apart –

God says “Above all else”

            That means – Your TOP Priority! –

More important than anything your think or feel,

More important than anyone or anything else! Above all else!

Above all else what? “guard your heart”

            Guard is a Verb. That means we are to be ACTIVE in guarding our personal heart!

God says we are to keep our heart safe from harm or danger. To protect and watch over it.

We are to keep our heart under close watch, observing it, being vigilant and attentive, making sure our heart is not infiltrated by wrong influences or motives and making sure our heart is not investing itself in dangerous places. We are to faithfully preserve and fortify our heart from dangers, blocking it from infiltrators.

We are to keep our heart under good control, restraining it from being moved by music, drugs, alcohol, pornography, people who influence us with lies and deception, and worse. We are to guard our heart as a matter of caution and prudence.

Why does God want us to guard our heart? “for it is the wellspring of life”

            God says your heart is the wellspring! The wellspring of life.

What is this wellspring?

A wellspring is the source of life, with an abundant supply of good.

            Consider this - A Spring is in the woods. It is a fresh water spring with water welling up deep beneth the ground. It is hidden in the forest that has been untouched by mankind. Only the winds, rains, trees, and wild critters are near it. For years and years it has been isolated and clean, pouring out fresh water for those who come to drink. The spring is safe, and its water is fresh and life sustaining. The spring comes up bubbling, clean and fresh from the interior of the ground. There are no blockages, it flows free and plentifully.

Now consider visitors come and visit. They like its fresh waters. They come to drink from it, to splash and play in it. They wash and clean themselves in it. They have no regard for it. They only want to take from it what they can.

They use the wellspring and leave their unwanted garbage in or near it. Those with car trouble drip motor oil and coolant on the ground. Others toss out their excess alcohol and left over food to rot around the spring. More and more people come because of the fresh water. But more and more people violate the pristine woods and surroundings of this precious wellspring of life. The soil around the spring soaks up pollution and becomes defiled. The spring itself becomes clogged by the debris tossed in. No one has cared for the spring, but only taken from it and abused it. The surrounding trees have been cut down so now there is even less protection for the wellspring. Algae and other organisms have grown in the spring, and the water has become stagnant. As this condition continues, the spring and its environment becomes foul smelling. The spring is now unsafe to drink.

            The wellspring of life, our heart, can become defiled and impure like that life-giving spring. Our hearts are meant to be pure, clean, and refreshing. Our heart is made to be protected from those who would defile it, and protected from our own debasing desires. When our hearts are pure, we are healthier and happier within. We function much better in our minds, bodies and emotions when we have clean pure hearts. Your heart is created to be a wellspring of life, and not to be polluted to pouring out death.

The Lord God Almighty Who made us knows every person’s individual heart. God created our hearts. God’s manual for life, the Bible, says each of our hearts IS the wellspring of life.

Putting this all together –

Keep, guard, protect, and maintain, your heart, your feelings, your will and your intellect with all diligence like being the king’s guard at his the post of a most valued treasure. Yoru heart is a most valued treasure by God!! Use great important care in keeping watch. ,   for out of it are the issues , or the exit for the source of and of life

  How can we Practically do this? - coming later

Misplace loyalties, idols (10 commandants)

Broken heart, wounded heart, broken dreams, sin, confused loyalty, downright rebellion against a holy God, or hurt by others, abused and mistreated, lied to, neglected, betrayed by others,

Cover idols – 10 commandments, where we place our heart to be wounded

Note that this place is NOT the Garden of Eden. When it was, our heart was never wounded. Only when we disobeyed God did our world change to be under the prince of this world and the d’s system where we need to be careful where we tread. Life here is like a land mind, and the Bible and the Holy Spirit and being born again make life here successful in God’s eyes.

The Lord is close to the broken hearted … VS HY.

  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You may not understand it all, since we have finite minds, but we would be foolish not to trust the One with the infinite mind and heart and power!! (God’s character link) VS …
Trust God with all of you. (Proverbs 3:5-7)
God wants to take you and love you.
God wants to teach you and transform you by His power, ability, and love.
God knows that you have tried hard on your own. God knows how you are hurting. God knows how wounded you are. And that is why God is near you right now. Jesus says, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matt 11:28-30 (HY)
The Bible says, "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18   “a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Psalm 51:17
          God knows you intimately: O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Psalm 139:1-3
          God says that the only way to the Father is through His Son Jesus.
          Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me…. If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” John 14:6,23
          Will you trust God right now to transform your heart, mind and life. Right where you are?
Will you bow your head, bow your knee, and talk to God just where you are? Right now? It’s that simple.
Lord God, I know you are watching me right now. You see where I am. You know my situation and how I got here. You know me inside and out. And God, I know that you are Holy and perfect, and that you love me. Lord God, I am not holy or perfect. God, I am a sinner. I have said, done, and thought bad things, and I am very sorry, for I have sinned against You.  Lord, I know that you sent your Son Jesus Christ to take the penalty for all of my sins that I have ever committed. I know that I …. Cant finish yet!
          s/b repentance, not a salve for a wounded heart!!  Judgemtn condemnation removed for peace reconciliation with a holy God based on atonement. Not feelings better. -
