God's Laws

The Ten Commandments

God personally gave to Moses, on Mt. Sinai, Laws for God's people to obey. You can find them in Exodus 20:1-17 of the Bible. These are not called the ten suggestions for a good life, but demands placed upon us by a holy and just God.

Do you keep the 10 Commandments? ~~  For reflection on each commandment, please click the hyperlink after each one.

I.  I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. Commandment I.

II.   You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. Commandment II.

III.  You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. Commandment III.

IV.  Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.  Commandment IV.

V.    Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord you God is giving you. Commandment V.

VI.  You shall not murder. Commandment VI.

VII. You shall not commit adultery. Commandment VII.

VIII. You shall not steal. Commandment VIII.

IX.  You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Commandment IX.

X. You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Commandment X.

The first five Commandments tell you what you should focus on in your life. The last five tell you what to never do.  If you follow the first five in love and relationship with the Lord, as He commands, He will be a great help in protecting you from wanting to do the last five.   As always, it is still up to you, in your free will, to choose what you do and how you will live.

The first five Commandments tell you what you should focus on in your life.  The last five tell you what to never do.

Bring me to:  Fear of the Lord   or  Faith .

Bring me to the Lord's Atonement.

Jesus the Christ, or Messiah went on to explain:

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." (Deuteronomy 6:5)  This is the first and greatest commandment.   And the second is like it:  "Love your neighbor as yourself." (Leviticus 19:18) All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments. (Matthew 22:37-40)

If you find that you have not obeyed all of the one true God's Laws, then you are in need of forgiveness by Him.  He is willing and wanting to forgive you with open arms and a heart full of love.  God also wants to help you to keep His commandments since He knows how difficult and impossible it is to please Him without His help.  You may read about the Good News, or Pray to receive His forgiveness.

Dear Holy God, I have not kept your laws.  I am sorry that I have disobeyed you.  Please forgive me.  I want to obey your laws and to do what you want me to do.  I know that it is impossible for me to do this on my own.  I thank you for sending me your Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to take the punishment for my sins.   Lord Jesus, come into my life and take control of my life.  I trust You, Jesus.  Thank you for loving me and thank you for forgiving me!!  Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit to live in me and teach me. Please open my mind and heart to Your words in your Bible.  I love you.  Amen."

If you have sincerely repented, forsaken and turned away from your sins.  If you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ's sacrificial death.  Then you have received His gift of Eternal Life.  You are now a child of God!  Forever!

Welcome to the Family of God!!
