"I FEEL HELPLESS TO CHANGE"

Thank you for writing to us!!  You are a blessing for one major reason: God made you (Who Creates?, Who Made You), and you are reaching out to Him while He is reaching to you!!!  (Psalm 27:4, Luke 11:8-10, Come to Me,  Everlasting Love )   This is the beginning of “changing” and entering into the presence of the Holy God.  By seeking God’s Face, according to God’s Word, you are on your way to being in the presence of Almighty God (2 Chronicles 7:14, 1 Chronicles 16:11).

We have much information for you in this letter, both written and by hyperlinks.  Please read it carefully and know that it is only based on the authority of God’s Word, the Bible.  When Jesus was tempted, He referred to the Bible (Matthew 4), when people tried to sway Jesus to have allegiance to people instead of what He was doing, Jesus upheld the utmost allegiance to the Word of God (Luke 8:19-21), and when Jesus needed strength He spent time talking, listening, and being in the presence of His Father (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16, Luke 9:18, John 17:1).

Additionally, since Jesus lived and then died to take the punishment that you and I deserve for all the wrong we each have done, you and I can and should live in victory based upon His Atonement , His Word and His Holy Spirit.  What blocks us from doing this?? Erroneous thinking, sin and selfishness, emotions that have allegiance to anything above the Lord God Himself, and/or trusting that we have any righteousness (Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:23) of our own apart from God’s work (The Atonement) for us, in us, and through us.

What can cause despair??  Sin causes despair. It may even be sin which we are unaware of, but which God wants to reveal to us so we can reject it and allow Him to heal us of the effects of our sin, and enable us to live for Him and for His glory forever.  Sin keeps our focus away from the living God.  It keeps our minds, hearts, emotions and hopes on our circumstances or situations or what we can see, and not upon what God sees and His eternal perspective.  (Perspective)

Now let’s work on the issues –

First prayer, Then the facts! Yippee, success is soon, God’s way!! Great Joy!

Your quote >>            "I FEEL HELPLESS TO CHANGE THAT WHICH NEEDS CHANGING AND AM FALLING MORE AND MORE INTO DESPAIR.  I GO TO MASS EVERY WEEK YET DON'T FEEL GOD.  HOW DO I GET TO THAT FEELING?"

Let’s turn this around.  “I want changes to be made that need changing.  I am sad and have no hope or faith that anything will improve.  I am falling into despair.  I go to mass to sense God, but I don’t feel His presence there.  I want God to draw near to me, and me to be close to Him.  I need to have God change my life, not just my circumstances.   (If this not correct, then please let us know soon.  (Response - THANK YOU FOR CARING.  I HAVE PRINTED THE EMAIL AND HAVE REREAD IT SEVERAL TIMES.  I DO FEEL A BIT BETTER.)

Now lets pray!

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, Who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.  James 1:2-8     Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  James 4:8

Lord God, increase my faith.  Open my ears to hear You and please draw near to me.  Lord Jesus Christ, I know you are God, and I know that you know all things.  But most of all, I  know that you are not impersonal. You, Who took on the very nature of a man, were tempted in every way, and were the exact representation of God, know how difficult it is to live in this life.  Jesus, I am not unaware of Your promise that if I surrender to You, and trust you totally with my life, heart, mind, emotions, and soul, You will bring me through everything that has come my way and into a close intimacy with You.  (Romans 8:3, Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 1:3, John 1:1-2; John 1:12-14; John 3:3-8; John 3:16-21; 1 John 3:1; John 15:1-17)

Lord God Almighty, You know Chris’ situation.  You know what he has done and has not done.  You know what he has relied upon, what he has trusted to get him out of situations, and what has actually put him where he is today.  Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that You reveal to Chris Yourself, show him Who You are, in the revelation of the Holy Spirit teaching through Your Word. Jesus, please reveal to Chris just how real, personal, intimate and alive You are, that Chris would have no fear, no anxiety, and be able to “see” clearly through Your eyes Who he is in You and what his world really is all around him when You dwell within him.

Lord Jesus, Your Word says that if we trust You completely, if we choose You to be our Father and Lord directly, then You will pour Your Spirit into our hearts.  If we humble ourselves to You and confess our sins to You directly (2 Chronicles 7:14, 1 John 1:9, 1 Timothy 2:5), You will hear us and You will heal us and restore us to Yourself.   You tell us in Your Word, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the Truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His Word has no place in our lives.” 1 John 1:8-10

(Chris, we recommend that you pray this out loud to the Lord God Himself directly.  Be sure to only say it if it is completely true and you truly want to say it to the Lord God.)

Lord God Almighty, You see me and You know where I’ve been and what I have done. You know the awful parts of my life, and the despair that I feel because of it.  Lord God, I know that You alone are holy and perfect.  I know that You alone are God.  Lord God Almighty, I am a sinner.  I have done many wrong things, said wrong things, and not done what I should have done at times.  I also know that you sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross taking the punishment that I deserve for everything that I have ever done wrong.  I am so sorry for what I have done that was wrong in Your sight.  I have (PUT your own sins here, for example:  trashed the good things that you have given me, I have lied, deceived, cheated, etc.  Think about each one and the effects that your sins have had on other people, on yourself, and on God Who hates sin and is angry with the wicked every day.  (Hosea 9:15, Psalm 7:11, Proverbs 8:36)  That is called repentance, hating the sin and turning 180 degrees away from it (2 Corinthians 7:10).  That is success in talking with God.)

Lord Jesus Christ, I am a sinner.  I have done many wrong things in my life and I have trusted much of my own way and the way that others have led me.  You know just where I’ve been and what sins I have committed.  Lord Jesus Christ, I am sorry for not turning to You and trusting You with the full weight of my sin sooner.  Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins.  Thank you for taking the punishment that I deserve.

Lord God Almighty, I ask that You take all of my sins and place them on the cross of Jesus so that I bear them no more.  Lord God I am so sorry for all the things I have said and done which were against You, the Holy God. Please forgive me.  I ask that You apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to me and to all of my sins that I would be clean from all of my sins and free to serve You all the days of my life.

Lord Jesus Christ, fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I would live for You all the days of my life.  Teach me, guide me, grow me, give me Your wisdom, strengthen me, enliven me by Your Spirit and Word, bless me to bless You, give me Your courage and boldness to live for You, and fill me with Your Truth, Hope, and Joy that I would be an even greater blessing to you every day!!  Fill me again with Your Holy Spirit!!  Fill me with Your Love and Peace.  I love You Lord Jesus!!!  Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for saving me from hell.

I trust in Your Word that says, "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”  Isaiah 1:18  “as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12    “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9     I know now that You are the Only One to fully trust since You are God!    Thank you for Your Peace!!  Thank you for making me your child!!  I praise You!  Jesus is Lord!! In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

If your heart prayed that prayer Chris, then you are truly blessed.  God says, “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”  2 Corinthians 7:10, John 14:6  “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:7

Congratulations. You are a New Creation!  “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”  2 Corinthians 5:17  You have asked Jesus to Create In you a pure heart.

This is what you have done -    "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame."  Romans 10:8-13

Please read our notes beneath.  They were written before this top portion was written.  Please feel free to contact us again via the website.  We would very much like to hear if this letter was helpful to you and if Jesus is closer to you now.  We trust that He is.  He is the only One Who can and does reach hearts and souls. That is His business, and we trust He is blessing you right now!

I will extol the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt His Name together. I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.  Ps 34:1-4

"I FEEL HELPLESS TO CHANGE THAT WHICH NEEDS CHANGING"

We all are.  Only God can change a soul, mind, heart, and spirit, and thereby the effects of that internal and eternal change.  You are on your way… keep reading and ingesting God’s thoughts.  Internalize them, trusting them more than any person at all.  This will set you free from sin patterns you may not even be aware you have.

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31,32

God tells us how to worship (What is Worship?) God the way He wants it, and how to have our minds not despairing, but thinking God’s way (Isaiah 55:9).

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1,2

When a person is born again, the Holy Spirit indwells that person, and he or she has he mind of Christ.  This is true:  We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:12-16

God said long ago, and fulfilled it after Jesus rose to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father -   "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."  Jeremiah 31:33,34; Hebrews 8:10, Hebrews 10:16, Ezekiel 36:26.
